First Week Wednesday

image image imageWednesday was a blur. We had class in the morning and that was very interesting. The professor is a great guy and has a PH.D. In Irish history and archeology. After that a bunch of us went to center city to take in some sites. We toured Trinity College and saw the book of Kells and I saw a beautiful Catholic Church called St Augustine and St John the Baptist (it is served by the Augustinian priests – the same order that is at Villanova University), among other things. Then had a quick dinner and settled in to watch the Euro Championships soccer game. We spent tonight watching Ireland beat the heavily favored Italians at a pub in center city. Ireland will now advance to the next round. The city is going nuts.
The young folks I am taking classes with are really nice people and a ton of fun. They are asking me to join in everything including trips out of town for the weekend, so I guess I made the cut! I am included in the Group Me app for our class where individuals in the group toss out to the rest of us plans for dinner, pub visits, weekend trips away, etc., and invite anybody in our group that is interested to come along. It is great to be in college again!

    1. This all sounds like so much fun, except for maybe sleeping on a cot for 2 months! I bet the city was CRAZY yesterday after the Irish won the game! So glad u got to see something like that! I’m glad the “kids” are including you in their outings etc. Did they realize that you can drink them all under the table? We are loving the pint counter…keep up the good work Papa! Be careful! Enjoy college round 2!!!😘

  1. It looks to me like you didn’t retire, but simply took your job to Ireland! I’ve witnessed this lifestyle and behavior for the past decade! Continue to have fun and don’t forget you soon have a paper due.

  2. I’m not recognizing you in the top picture, Bill. Were you in the drivers seat?
I’m wondering if you will ever come Stateside again or just send Jackie a plane ticket, LOL
Sounds and looks like a dream experience. I’m enjoying reading about it.

    1. Thanks for your comments Jeanie and keep them coming at least every now and then . Our mutual best friend would have howled over this blog every day I am thinking! Then again if given the chance he would probably have been my suite mate. Oh how I wish that would have been possible.

  3. Looks and sounds like you’re having a great start. Love the pictures and keeping up with you.
